“Atelier 99” is a Theatre Acting Studio. The Program was created from the best developments and experiences of the Eastern and Western European theatrical schools and experimental theatre groups. Having a full respect for all the World’s famous acting teachers and creators, we have not chosen just one or two to follow, rather we’ve selected to study them all. According to my personal experience as an actor and teacher, I have learned that in the art of theater acting there are no limitations or specifications for studying and growing in this field. In this studio, the students will have the opportunity to try many different systems and ways of acting development. We will “slow walk” through the classic school of Stanislavski for exploring the mind, the soul and the deepest of feelings. We will “take a bite” from the modernized system of Michael Chechov, experiencing the physical and the emotional equivalent of the character in the actor. We will “squeeze” the best from L. Strasberg, and get closer to the “hidden dimensions” of Bertold Brecht. Most of all, the students will have the thrill of studying what many well known actors have experienced on stage as well as the ideas they have shared and implemented which, in turn, will make the study process very unique and exciting. Every step of the program will be approached with an open mind allowing students to experiment with those ideas of their own which may not be directly connected with theater acting- improvisations in music (instrumental/ vocal), clowning, and so forth. All in all, we believe in “Simplicity” so as to create “The Unforgettable,” imprinting its signature in the Book of Theatre for times to come. The study Program is split into Two-Practice Levels: The Etude and The Scene. The Etude is the level for those who, for the first time, would like to enter into the “magic” world of theatre acting. The Scene is the level for those who already have some stage experience and are ready to get deeper into character development and complete Scene presentation. Both levels will complete with Final Productions in front of an audience which will be created from the best developed Etudes of the Etude level, and the best developed Scenes from plays of the Scene level. If the students’ comprehension in the Scene level is reaching beyond the requirements, then for the Final they can perform a One Act complete play instead of a separate-scene showcase. The time frame for each level is Four Months. The practices are Two Times per Week, each practice being Three Hours long with a Twenty-Minute Break in between (not included in the three hours). Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Practice hours are during Early Afternoons and Evenings for the whole of the study process. The students can choose the practice schedule most convenient for their working/social schedule. (see page "d' Tuition" for specific days and times ). Two Absences are allowed during the whole process. However, if there are more, the student is obligated to retrieve lost material, making it up with his/her colleagues. But if there are more than five absences, the student’s work will be considered Incomplete and therefore incompatible with most of the production presentations which may prevent him/her from receiving equal privileges on stage. |
